Attention all teachers and kids:
It’s time for the Spring 2011 Fight the Bite Contest!
To help us educate and inform the community about mosquitoes and West Nile virus, we’re hosting the “Design a Calendar Page Contest” for students in grades K-12!
Use your creativity and art skills to draw a picture that will show us how us how you Fight the Bite and protect yourself from mosquitoes using any or all of the D’s of Mosquito Prevention:
DRAIN any standing water that may produce mosquitoes.
DAWN and DUSK are times to avoid being outdoors.
DRESS appropriately by wearing long sleeves and pants when outside.
DEFEND yourself against mosquitoes by using an effective insect repellent.
DOOR and window screens should be in good working condition.
DISTRICT staff is available to assist with mosquito problems
Picture must be submitted on the official contest entry form.

Who can enter? All students within Sacramento and Yolo counties.
How are entries divided and judged?
What is the prize for winning?
Each category will win:
First prize: $150
Second Prize: $75
Third Prize: $50
Each Classroom Teacher will also win:
First prize: $450
Second Prize: $225
Third Prize: $150
Prize money to teachers must be used for educational materials. Note: The classroom prize does not apply to home schooled children.
When is the deadline?
Return entries by Friday, April 1, 2011 at 3:00pm.
